Alexandra von Schroeter is an experienced executive, strategic business leader and co-owner / partner at Cumberland Private Wealth Management Inc. (“Cumberland Private Wealth”) with a demonstrated 30+ year track record in the investment management and banking industries. Since joining in 1999, she has been integral in the firm’s growth as a leading Canadian independent wealth management firm, both as a director and a managing director of the firm’s parent Cumberland Partners Limited (2006 onward) and as a member of CPL’s Executive Committee currently. Aside from these roles, she is also a seasoned Portfolio Manager, working closely with selected executives, entrepreneurs, their families and corporations/ foundations managing their investments and offering advice and solutions that draw upon her long experience in investing and the global capital markets. Special areas of focus span portfolio diversification, strategic and tactical asset allocation across asset classes, new alternative investments, risk management and hedging, among key areas of wealth management. Prior to Cumberland Private Wealth, Ms. von Schroeter spent 12 years at CIBC World Markets and Wood Gundy Inc. in Investment Banking, Mergers & Acquisitions and in the Capital Markets areas in Toronto, London UK and New York, and in commercial banking at Bank of Montreal.
Ms. von Schroeter is currently a member of Sunnybrook Foundation Board, its Hospital, Foundation, Science Centre and Research Institute Boards’ Common Investment Committee, Chair of the INSEAD Canadian Foundation Board, a Co-Chair of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO)’s Curators’ Circle Committee, International Women’s Forum and was an activator of SheEO, now Coralus, in support of women and leadership. She served on the INSEAD Alumni Fund’s global board for 15 years, as a graduate of the International Director’s Program and the Business School (MBA); and Queen’s University (B.Comm.). She has a CFA designation, among other industry credentials, and from earlier studies, a diploma in French Literature from Universite de Paris-Sorbonne.
