Gerald R. Connor
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Connor has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cumberland since founding the firm, together with three partners, in 1997. He is responsible for the firm’s overall investment policy, its operations and its strategic direction. He also has responsibility for managing a significant base of clients to which he brings over 40 years of investment experience. Prior to Cumberland, Mr. Connor was a founding partner of Connor, Clark & Company, Connor Clark & Lunn, and 20/20 Investment Management, which collectively managed over $16 billion for high-net-worth clients, pension plans and mutual funds. Before that, he managed discretionary funds at Baker Weeks of Canada and headed the Canadian operations of Francis I. DuPont and Co. Mr. Connor was a director of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Foundation in Toronto for 14 years, and a director of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for 2 years.

Bruce R. Jackson CFA
President and Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Jackson is President of Cumberland, and is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the firm. Day to day, he has a focus on investment research, portfolio management and client service. Prior to Cumberland, he was a founder and Managing Director of Barrantagh Investment Management Inc. Prior to that; he was one of the founding partners of Griffiths, McBurney & Partners; and Goepel Shields and Partners. He began his career as a research analyst at Wood Gundy. Mr. Jackson brings over 24 years of experience in the investment industry, in capital markets and wealth management for institutions, trusts, foundations, family offices and entrepreneurs in Canada, the United States, and Europe. He is affiliated with the non-profit National Ballet of Canada, Canada’s premier dance company. Mr. Jackson is a director and shareholder of Cumberland Partners Limited, the firm’s parent company.

John Wilson BSc Eng, MBA, CIM
Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Wilson is Chief Investment Officer of Cumberland. He is also Cumberland’s lead technology and telecom analyst, and has extensive experience in investment management and research. Prior to Cumberland, he founded DDX Capital Partners, an investment counselor that produced impressive results through the use of extensive risk management systems. Prior to that, he was Managing Director and top rated analyst of the technology group at RBC Capital Markets; and previously, he was Director of Technology, Media and Telecom Research at UBS Canada. Mr. Wilson began his career at Northern Telecom in systems design and over 10 years, he held several management positions in the areas of design, manufacturing, marketing, business planning and development. He is an MBA graduate of Wharton, The University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Wilson is a director and shareholder of Cumberland Partners Limited, the firm’s parent company.

James A. Goar LLB, MBA, CFA
Investment Analyst, Canadian Equities

Mr. Goar has been an Investment Analyst at Cumberland since 2006. He co-manages the Cumberland Special Opportunities Fund. He is also a member of Cumberland’s investment committee. Prior to Cumberland, Mr. Goar was an Investment Analyst and Portfolio Manager with Clarica (now part of Sun Life), MuCana Investment Counseling (now Legg Mason Canada), and the O’Donnell Group of Mutual Funds. With over 22 years in the investment industry, his primary focus has been on Canadian equities, with a special emphasis on small capitalization stocks where he established his track record. Mr. Goar is a shareholder of Cumberland Partners Limited, the firm’s parent company.

Steven Hall CFA, MBA
Investment Analyst

Mr. Hall is an Investment Analyst at Cumberland, with responsibility for research and analysis of Canadian and U.S. equities. He is a member of Cumberland’s investment committee. Prior to Cumberland, Mr. Hall was an investment analyst for U.S. equities at a Toronto-based investment-counseling firm. He has over 10 years of investment experience in investment research, sales and trading. Mr. Hall is a CFA charter holder, and obtained his MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University in 2002.

Peter Jackson HBSc, MBA, CFA
Portfolio Manager, Canadian Equities

Mr. Jackson has been a Portfolio Manager at Cumberland since 1999, with overall responsibility for Canadian equities. He also manages the Cumberland Total Energy Fund and the Cumberland Special Opportunities Fund. Mr. Jackson is a member of Cumberland’s investment committee. Prior to Cumberland, Mr. Jackson managed a private investment partnership that acted as a sub-advisor for Elliott and Page Investment Counsel. Previously, he was a Portfolio Manager and Investment Analyst at Barclays McConnell and Sun Life, respectively, with a focus on Canadian equities stock selection and research. Mr. Jackson has over 24 years experience in the investment management business. He is a director and shareholder of Cumberland Partners Limited, the firm’s parent company.

Geneviève Lavallée BA, MA, CFA
Fixed Income Analyst

Ms. Lavallée has been a Fixed Income Analyst at Cumberland since 2005, responsible for qualitative and quantitative research for fixed income securities, including the Cumberland Income Fund. Prior to Cumberland, Ms. Lavallée was Senior Vice President at Dominion Bond Rating Service with primary responsibility for Canadian electrical utilities and gas distribution utilities, as well as the Government Finance group. She also assisted the Structured Finance Group with government-related entities, including airports. Prior to joining DBRS, Ms. Lavallée worked at the Federal Department of Finance, where she held positions in several areas including debt management, intergovernmental tax policy, economic analysis and forecasting. Ms. Lavallée has over 9 years of investment industry experience, a Master of Arts in Economics, and a Bachelor of Social Science in Economics and Math.

Peter Mann B. Comm, CIM
Investment Analyst, U.S. Equities

Mr. Mann has been an Investment Analyst at Cumberland since 2004, with responsibility for research and analysis of U.S. equities. He is a member of Cumberland’s investment committee. Prior to Cumberland, Mr. Mann managed a U.S. private investment partnership. He has over 15 years of investment experience in portfolio management and institutional sales and trading. Mr. Mann is a shareholder of Cumberland Partners Limited, the firm’s parent company.

Richard Schulte-Hostedde CFA
Investment Analyst, U.S. Equities

Mr. Schulte-Hostedde has been an Investment Analyst at Cumberland since 2008. He is involved with all aspects pertaining to research and analysis of U.S. equity investments, and is a member of Cumberland’s investment committee. Prior to Cumberland, Mr. Schulte-Hostedde was an analyst at Lusight Research, an independent equity research firm, covering emerging market financial institutions. Previously, he worked in sales and as an equity analyst for AGF Funds. Mr. Schulte-Hostedde has over 12 years of investment industry experience and is a CFA charter holder.

Sukyong Yang CA, MBA, CFA
Global Equities

Ms. Yang joined Cumberland as the firm’s global portfolio manager. She has a diverse experience in portfolio management and comprehensive knowledge of global equities. She is a Chartered Accountant and has a Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Prior to joining Cumberland, Ms Yang had her own portfolio management company, Concordia Capital, where she managed money for high net worth individuals. Prior to establishing Concordia Capital, Sukyong managed international equities for institutions and private clients as a partner at KBSH Capital Management. She began her investment career at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board as an analyst specializing in financial institutions, energy and utility sectors. In addition to her 16 years experience in the investment management business, she spent six years as a Consultant and Auditor at KPMG in their Amsterdam, Seoul and Toronto offices.
